Marketplace Small Claims Court

Marketplace Small Claims Court

At some point, most of us wish we could fight back against unscrupulous retailers. Meet a woman who has taken numerous cases to Small Claims Court and won — a landlord/tenant dispute, two travel holidays gone wrong and a faulty car radio. The businesses taken to court paid a hefty price for not settling with her sooner. The keys to success, advises a judge, are to represent yourself, present lots of documentation and have witnesses. To collect on a judgment requires enforcement proceedings, but it can be done even if it means extracting money from a pay cheque. It's a lot of work but it's the principle that counts for seeking justice in the market place.
