CBC Short Docs Frame 394

Frame 394 follows a young man from Toronto who entangles himself in one of America’s most high-profile police-involved shootings. On April 4, 2015, Walter Scott, an unarmed black man, was fatally shot in the back while running away from Michael Slager, a white police officer, in Charleston, S.C. A bystander recorded the incident. Cinematographer-turned-architect-turned-animator Daniel Voshart became obsessed with the story. He worked from home, stabilizing the shaky image and posted the result to Reddit, where it became one the site’s most commented GIFs. Frame 394 follows Daniel as he navigates what may be the biggest decision of his life — whether or not to become an expert witness for the defence in Michael Slager's trial.
