News in Review Frosh Week Controversy

A frosh week chant turned into a major scandal for St. Mary’s University and the University of British Columbia this past September. The chants glorified underage sexual assault. The impropriety of the incident is made worse in light of the Rehtaeh Parsons case. She alleged she had been sexually assaulted when she was just 15 and then bullied online. She died after a suicide attempt.
