News in Review Ireland: Voting For Peace

In May and June 1998, an end seemed to be in sight to the violence and bloodshed that have marked the struggle between Catholics and Protestants in Ireland. The people in the north and in the south, on both sides of the conflict, voted for a new order of government and, hopefully, peace. Most of them did, but some remained dedicated to violence.
