In July 2006, the Middle East erupted in flames again, as Israeli forces battled Hezbollah guerrillas in southern Lebanon. Israeli warplanes bombed targets all over Lebanon. Hezbollah fired volleys of rockets into northern Israel. Hundreds of people were killed, most of them civilians. In this News in Review story we'll look at the fighting and at diplomatic efforts to try to get both sides to agree to a lasting and effective ceasefire.
