One in three Canadians is classified as fat. Those who belong to that group want
to be a part of mainstream culture and accepted for their image. According to
the Body Mass Index, an average woman of 165 centimeters is overweight if she
weighs anything over 68 kilograms and obese if she weighs over 85 kilograms. But
all this is changing: clothing stores are introducing sizes over 20 and some
designers have dedicated their careers to making
clothes for bigger people. Marketing campaigns are broadening their range and
targeting this segment of the population.
