National Geographic Documentaries Miracle Landing on the Hudson

In January 2009, US Airways Flight 1549 took off from New York’s LaGuardia Airport on route to Charlotte, North Carolina. Within minutes a double bird strike destroyed both engines and the crew made the terrifying decision to pitch the Airbus A320 into the Hudson River. Using intimate and emotional interviews, as well as large-scale dramatic reconstruction, Miracle Landing on the Hudson takes us inside the plane for the first time. This is the story told entirely from the passengers’ and crew’s perspective. It is both a heartbreaking portrait of a mass collective near-death experience as well as an adrenaline-fuelled fight for survival.
