In early November 2007, Pakistan’s President Pervez Musharraf declared emergency rule and suspended the country’s constitution. Musharraf said it was necessary to deal with a wave of extremist violence. But the move was widely condemned by many countries, including Canada. In this News in Review story we’ll look at the crisis in Pakistan and what it could mean for the future of that troubled region.
