News in Review The Act That Made Us Canadian

In Summer 2007 ceremonies were held to mark the 60th anniversary of the Canadian Citizenship Act. Before that Act in 1947, both native-born and naturalized citizens in this country were considered British, not Canadian. In this News in Review story we’ll look back at that historic day and meet the first person to be born a Canadian. We’ll also meet some new Canadians as they prepare for their own citizenship ceremony.
