Ten Canadian books are finalists for the 2021 Yellow Cedar Award, which celebrates non-fiction books for readers in Grades 4-8, ages 9-14.
The 2021 nominees include:

– An Earthling’s Guide to Outer Space: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Black Holes, Dwarf Planets, Aliens, and More by Bob McDonald
– Gone Is Gone: Wildlife Under Threat by Isabelle Groc
– Hawks Kettle, Puffins Wheel: And Other Poems of Birds in Flight by Susan Vande Griek, illustrated by Mark Hoffmann
– It Began With a Page: How Gyo Fujikawa Drew the Way by Kyo Maclear, illustrated by Julie Morstad
– One Earth: People of Color Protecting Our Planet by Anuradha Rao
– Powwow: A Celebration through Song and Dance by Karen Pheasant-Neganigwane
– Science Comics: Crows, Genius Birds by Kyla Vanderklugt
– Trending: How and Why Stuff Gets Popular by Kira Vermond, illustrated by Clayton Hanmer
– Under Pressure: The Science of Stress by Tanya Lloyd Kyi, illustrated by Marie-Ève Tremblay
