In early October 2006, North Korea shocked the world by carrying out its first test of a nuclear bomb. The United Nations reacted to the underground explosion by imposing sanctions. But the North Koreans remained defiant. In this News in Review story we’ll take a look at how the crisis developed. We’ll also travel to North Korea for a rare look at that secretive communist country.
